Took a short roadtrip back to corn country - Iowa where I grew up. Not potatoes or Ohio but Corn country! Long ass ways to get there via Redding, CA - LA-Denver-Des Moines. Heck I could of made it back to Bangkok in that time! Visit of the family completed good visit. Time goes on way too fast. Next roadtrip pends. Stay tuned.
Just back from almost two full months SE Asia. Started in Bangkok, Thailand check stuff out eat soup get used to the heat. Cambodia and temple tours, talk about the heat, start early sip coconut juice right from the nut. Vietnam once again, HCMC to Vung Tau and north up the coast till I hit Da Nang. Things have changed, common thread everywhere to include rest of world? Cell phone hangs from everyone’s hand or stuck in face. I learned a lot in my travels, being nice goes a long way every single time.

Haven’t been here for quite a spell, COVID killed lots and now trying to get back to a normal. I decided to remodel 1 of 3 bathrooms at my home residence. Six months later and probably a ten thousand dollar bill is the job finally done. Take a look at the end result. I’m happy with my work and know I may not be a painter but who cares, I like it and that’s all that matters! Have an enjoyable viewing.
Hi all, passing the good word I have closed shop at my downtown location, relocating back to my home studio. Life is good, ART is the best. Stay positive during this pandemic, one day we’ll be back to normal. I can be found cruising around town in the CQ or you can contact through my website. Thanks all.
Sometimes one needs to go big, this one I did. Learned a lot, still do, do you? Shark Buoy comes out of the wall at you at 37”, and the teeth. The teeth.
Monster mash bash is back, check out Lost Coast Outpost for the lastest and greatest mash bash!
Covid still goes but does that stop you from doing stuff? New shark build close to completion, very large and in charge. He goes by “Shark Buoy”. Very large dark intimidating eyes 2.5” all wrapped in a copper skin. Check out Shark Buoy first chance you get. You will be scared!
Obviously I have neglected to post recent Art happenings. With the current COVID-19 pandemic I’ve been closed in like the rest of you. Late March 2020 I relocated my welding equipment back home, rebuilt new work bench and went to work, from home. Fast forward to end of June I totally rebuilt back portion of Copper Quad Art Car. Out with the old granny seat, in with a new racing Recaro seat! With that came a new design and name for machine on door. Using 3/16” cold roll steel rod I formed up the trunk design. Welded steel to steel which makes for a most excellent weld. Then came time for making a ton of steel rivet tabs, then welded on @ 5/32” rivet. Artwork of course had to be added to all panels and took a considerable amount of time to do. All by hand with a few hammers, punches, awls and engraver. Trunk had to open to access the two new Lithium 52 volt batteries. I installed a 1 - 2 switch to switch from battery 1 to battery 2. You have to manually check battery charge. With the trunk recently completed my goal has been achieved. Goal: Make reliable human power / electric assist transpo. I did and have been riding back and forth to work. Mission Accomplished!
Really don’t know where the time goes, maybe kayaking on good days is the answer? Anyways lots of new works as of late. Keeping up with a changing theme every month for Arts Alive keeps one busy. Busy is good. I’ll be open along with Glass Garage weekends in December. Stop by for some most excellent deals!
Guess it’s been awhile since I’ve added to my log. Copper Quad copper skinning has been completed entire frame has been primed & painted. Copper skin have all been riveted together. Have experienced a few breakdowns due to the additional weight of the body. Two broken front spokes, wheels in for repairs. Then forward mounting bracket broke. No problem easy fix just need to beef up the weld, good to go! Arts Alive April 6, 6-9pm!
Cardboard skin for the Copper Quad you ask? Why yes, gives me time over time to contemplate whether I like the design I have in front of me. If something doesn’t work then tear it out and do something else. After all its only cardboard found in the dumpster across the street. Free 99 all dang day long!
Sometimes Art takes its time, in this case mine. Copper Quad recently had a Doc appt, a few minor things taken care of. Copper skinning has begun and is taking shape nicely. Stop by for Nov Arts Alive to see for yourself.
Who would of known an idea or thought would take this much time and effort. Things are progressing at a fast build pace. Take your time and knock out the small stuff and soon you’re there, done. Well almost. I’ve learned alot on this project and is fun to take a JoyRide around Old Town.
