Canada or bust, this time Vancouver Island south to north tip. Sketch for everyday on the road. Enjoy!
This ole tub is around the Northern California / Oregon border 101. Sharpies at the moment
I continued north 101 Oregon coast found this quick draw
Colombia River bridge
Signage this trip continues to grow and get better. Totem poles very difficult draw
Right downtown Victoria, BC. After seeing some line pencil draws at Maritime Museum did my present sketch agenda change. Technical pen.
15 minute sketch this one, 14 to be exact. Time limit all stop. Red added later. Draw what you see.
At this stage the Sharpie pen is starting to take a second row seat for this road trip draw.
One of the last 15 minute sketches this Canada trip. Why not give the draw the designated needed time to draw?
Victoria as it gets! Embassy Hotel right across the street. High Tea anyone?
Best place I had for an evening meal of surf & turf, amazing bartender drink & this sketch! Perfection.
Craigdarroch Castle. I found a nice grassy spot with rock wall and spent the next hour doing this draw. No shade for this draw.
I've done some tough draws in the past but this was at midnight and building all lit up. No lights extremely difficult.
More color yes. this trip I brought along a few color Tombow pens. Bam!
These ferry boats scurried around like crazy. Lesson learned in Italy draw boats fast cuz they boat away fast.
As soon as you put a line down the Skipper pulls the lines and their gone. Better sketch fast.
Moving north this just past Nanaimo. I stayed a bit with my cousin Judy.
After this this sketch was done I needed no lunch, nothing already full up. The fish & chips smell wafing my way entire draw filled me up.
Welcome to downtown Nanaimo, B. C.
Each sketch is unique, some people gawk, some not. The sounds, the smells. This one draw fast cuz the stench was pretty stiff
Totem poles never drawn them before but after sketching stuff you break things down into small draws. Doesn't matter what it is. It is a line bottom line.
I suck at landscape stuff so this trip goal was to work on my landscape skills. I'm working on it.
This was a pretty beat up Motel I found rolling into Nanaimo. Screamed "Draw me Draw me"! So I did
Guess the peaks were desgined by same guy who did Empress hotel. But this is seaside view morphed with other building.
Totino, BC you be at the very west, I like the west. West is the best.
Say it as it looks - clue?
Tofino Air as it gets. Accommodation was the MAQ one block up. Amazing view!
Draw what you see. Doesn't matter what it is just practice your Art trade. Angles, circles and bendy things. Practice
Sketches find me, out on a walkabout and bam! Sketch me! This one Sarah C. Up in your face & gone tomorrow.
Ferries don't hang out for much, you'd better draw fast and draw fast my friend.
Boats and their names. If they could only tell their sea stories
Back to Signage. Add some color goes to a different level. Capture that one moment
Drawing signs has taken a life of their own. Draw fast, draw and color good. Most of all have fun
Old ships were filled with big holes and placed here for breakwater work. Bald Eagles to the left here
Low tide was near a negative tide hence the mud dwellers. Secure your line sailor.
Sketch surroundings differ always. This right outside Comox Airbase, very cool.
Certain things catch your eye as in "what to sketch" sometimes like this was yep you're doing this one
As soon as I finished the last rescue chopper I come around and see this. Yep gotta do this one too. Looks like its smiling
My third attempt at Totem's, with all due respect too. I now have better understanding. Draw one you will too
Every travel there is so much stuff in your face. Big Mike was hanging by hotel at check in.
Drawing lines sometimes don't match up but during completion they always come together
These guys are on the move all the time. Romper room still exists
Cool old stuff all over, old steam donkey & beat up truck. Life of a different time
Telegraph Cove amazing place from back in time. All wood structures, very tidal
Sometimes you can draw sometimes you can't. If I hadn't been on the road sketching 2-3 a day no way I could of pulled this off cold.
Signs tell a story. Stop and check out the story if only a moment
Names and what on boats I do not change. Herring Girl is who she says she is. Go Fish!
Sketch objects sometimes may or may not be to your liking but these big boys fit the book no problem. Now get back to work!
Fishing boats and Bald Eagles these parts
Simply stunning place I stumbled upon. The rain stopped just long enough for this to happen. Probably my favorite
Some things you find along the way. Check out the carrot deal pretty funny everyone can relate
Moor Em Up looks like the tug kinda hang out. Lots of room to spread out, great seaside view.
Oh oh here's another one of those yep gotta draw that one too. How many tugs can a tug tug draw? three sure?
Can you re-draw a previous draw? Of course you can. Draw till you're happy or this tug happy the tugs that could.
Things you see - signs tell it all
Moose downtown Vancouver, BC
The Vogue great clasic design
Tickets here please
You hit end of line when you see this. Thanks for taking the Canada roadtrip. Vancouver island just do it.
No pencils were used at all, period. However a few Sharpie & Mircron tech pens bit the dust. If you don't log it it didn't happen
